Mixing Music and Sculpture

By Ryan Van Etten on 04/06/2010

Ever feel like recycling those old CD’s or vinyl records into physical artwork? Take a look at these videos. The first shows the making of a sculpture from thrift store records in Los Angeles and the second shows some impressive mini-guitar artwork.

“A 33 inch tall vinyl sculpture constructed from thrift store records left over after making the Secondhand Sureshots Deluxe Super Sets. This sculpture was created for Dublab.com/secondhand/ Sureshots DVD release party & screening April 3, 2010 at the Downtown Independent Theater in Los Angeles.” (vimeo.com/10647040)

“Constructed from actual scale replicas, [Chappell's] guitar sculptures incorporate the physical and spiritual ideals that exist in his full-size art pieces. Each sculpture is crafted upon a steel rod frame to a hand-stained oak and maple pedestal.” (vimeo.com/10536211)
