Tune up, in sixth gear, for 10 bucks. Modeled after the popular pedal, the TC Electronic PolyTune has now cruised into the App Store. Two days ago they released the app with a promotional free price tag for the first two days. They’ve now curbed the promotion but considering the killer feedback we’ve seen so far, it will likely race into the top paid music apps.

In the sea of music blogs, best means most relevant to the reader. How can bands or listeners find blogs in their genre? How can they find blogs in a specific city? Google is an obvious search tool for most topics, but to really get in the trenches and find smaller indie blogs, here are five super-effective search techniques. Includes live music photos.

Is water polo related to digital music? Flickr thinks so. It also can’t tell the difference between a house and a person. Can anyone make sense of this and/or provide insight into Flickr’s search algorithm? I’m using the Recent tab, because I’m often most interested in more recent photos. The Recent search results should still be relevant. I’m a huge Flickr fan, but this isn’t the first time the search has me asking what the Flickr? Anyone else?

Call me crazy, but I was surprised to see that only 13% of international call minutes last year were on Skype. I thought that number would be higher—I think it will be within a few years because of the amplifying access to computers both at work and home. Then there’s mobile VoIP. Skype already has apps for iPhone/Blackberry/Android/Symbian, and it’s only a matter of time before the majority of cellphones are smartphones.

Think Death From Above 1979 meets The Knife. Call it noise pop…breakbeat rock…or dance punk. Sleigh Bells mixes heavy dance beats and lo-fi distorted guitars, produced/performed by Derek Miller, with the hi-energy vocals of female singer Alexis Krauss. This Brooklyn-based duo is blasting earbuds with their debut album, Treats.

“You’ve just got to be open and free, because that’s the way people want to get content on the web”, says Dallas Penn. “Don’t be afraid of someone stealing your work so much, just have more work to give, and, if people are stealing it, you know what you’re onto something. You’re moving in the right direction.” continued Penn. Frank Talk summarized it in poetic terms, “If they’re stealing from you, [then] you’re on the right track.”
